Welcome to another week of Author Chat with me. This week’s guest is the truly wonderful Annabeth Albert. If you’re not familiar with Annabeth, she writes a wide range of contemporary romance stories. My favorite of her books is Conventionally Yours. She blends memorable characters with interesting settings. If you’ve not read any of her books, be prepared to binge read, you will always want more.

ACwA Guest: Annabeth Albert
How did the first story you ever wrote influence your career as an author and how do you feel about that story now?
Annabeth: Way back in 2003, I started my first full-length novel. That story is so bad. SO BAD. Never published, with very good reason. Head hopping. No plot. Mary Sue characters. Wish fulfillment ending. No goal/motivation/conflict for any of the characters. It was a mess. But I’m still glad I wrote it because it was part of my journey here!
Which of your characters is most like you (or someone close to you.)
Annabeth: All of my characters have a little piece of me! Josiah from Connection Error is probably the most “me” but there are others with bits of me too!
What is your favorite trope and why?
Annabeth: Grumpy + sunshine because I love opposites attract so much, and I really like it when a sunny character bounds into the life of a grumpy one. I also really like age gap.
How many half-written stories are on your hard-drive and what do you plan to do with them?
Annabeth: I have my work-in-progress and books in edits. As far as stories I started and never finished, I think I have less than ten. I don’t tend to abandon things that often!
What are you working on next?
Annabeth: Hope on Rocks is releasing August 5! That one is through edits. Right now, I’m drafting my Christmas story for this year. It’s a grumpy + sunshine pairing (big surprise) and it’s turning out to be so much fun!

I’m pretty much stalking you everywhere. 🙂 I read my first book by Annabeth in 2014 and I’ve never looked back. Knit Tight remains one of my all-time favorite MM books.
