Author Chat With Andy: Guest Author, Anyta Sunday

Author Chat with Andy - Guest Author, Anyta Sunday

Today’s Author Chat guest is my dearfriend, Anyta Sunday.

Anyta and I met more than ten years ago on the Gay Authors website. When she and her family lived for a time in the United States, they came to visit us. I have fond memories of those days, where her then toddler would dance for my then infant.

Anyta is one of my most powerful influences as a writer. She devotes as much time as any author I know to improving her craft. When you read her stories, you can see all the hard work she pours into every book.

You could rightfully say, I owe my being an author to Anyta. If not for our friendship, I would never have had the courage to publish any of my work.

All of that aside, Anyta’s books are creative, witty, inventive, and truly entertaining. She captures the true essence of romance in every book. I encourage everyone who has not read one of her books, to sign up for her newsletter and get a free story to show you what you’re missing.

And don’t forget to leave a comment below or in my Facebook group for a chance to win a backlist eBook of your choice.

So with that, let’s chat with Anyta:

ACwA Guest: Anyta Sunday

    • Origin: How did the first story you ever wrote influence your career as an author and how do you feel about that story now?

Oh, my first stories – I so wish I still had access to them! Written on a very old laptop in my early teens, they are lost… but foreshadowed what I would later get up to! They were romances in the Mills & Boon style, love stories… probably cringy to read today…

    • Which of your characters is most like you (or someone close to you.)

That would have to be Theo the Leo (from Leo Loves Aries). Not only do we share the same star sign, we also have a similar ditzyness… and love to pawn off the cooking on our partners 😛

    • What is your favorite trope and why?

Well, as my readers know, I adore slow burn. The longing and waiting, the absolute torture, that’s what I enjoy about any romance! Besides slow burn, I’m big on family ties – single dads, found family, or best friend’s dad (like Knight in “Emerett”!).

    • How many half-written stories are on your hard-drive and what do you plan to do with them?

There’s quite a few. Some I return to years later, some end up spawning a completely new idea – and some stay on the hard drive forever…

    • What are you working on next?

More “Love, Austen”! Book 2, a retelling of “Northanger Abbey”, is in the editing stages, and I am already knee-deep in book 3 – a modern gay “Pride & Prejudice”! So much fun, I can tell you!

Anyta Sunday's Newest Release

A man who acts before he thinks, a man who thinks before he acts, and the ensuing mishaps on the path to the ultimate love match.
~ ~ ~

Emerett “Lake” Lakewood has a healthy ego and a flair for the dramatic. After losing his best friend to marriage—completely crushing his heart—he deems it prudent to distract himself, and what better way than playing cupid?
He’s already got his eye on two young men desperately seeking romance, and he has a plan to hook them up.

Barbecues.

Photoshoots.

Reciting Shakespearean love declarations.

Lake is killing it. Love is positively pulsing in the air. Anyone could see it.

Well, anyone other than Knight, his best friend’s dad, who cautions Lake to stop meddling. To leave love to its natural course.

Lake has always valued Knight’s frankness, but this time he’s wrong. Without him, two hearts might be doomed never to find love.
Besides, what does Knight know about romance? He’s barely dated in all the seven years Lake’s known him. He’s clueless.

Though, there’s a thought. Knight has everything going for him. Sensibility. Kindness. Generosity. And for a forty-four-year-old, he’s—objectively—freaking hot.

Why is he single?
