Please welcome Becca Seymour who has come all the way from down under to be here today. I love Becca’s books, and she is one of the most wonderful people I’ve met through writing. And if you haven’t checked out her TikTok account – well you’re missing out. Just sayin.
Well enough of the fan boy stuff, let’s chat with Becca.
ACwA Guest: Becca Seymour
How did you come up with the idea of the current story / series?
Becca: No Take Backs was a book I started probably a year ago, inspired by a song and also from watching Hit the Floor. The first 25k flew out of me in about three weeks, but then, I lost focus and returned to finishing off my longer series, True-Blue. I’m so happy I found the time to return to the Zone Defense world, though. Having written a series set in the US, and multiple books set in Australia, I wanted to write a book where we see both fabulous countries. It worked so perfectly for these characters, and the premise of visiting the two countries is something that we’ll see in the rest of the planned three-book series.
If your main characters were being interviewed, how would they introduce themselves?
Becca: Nate, my true-blue Aussie, who’s super down to earth, would probably grin, do an awkward wave, and say something like: “G’day, you want a beer and for me to put some snags on the barbie?” His first instinct is to look out for others and make sure they’re comfortable. Ryan is a little more complex. This book is very much his coming out story. As a pro basketball player, he has a hard time of it, and is happy to deflect attention from him, so he definitely doesn’t chase the spotlight of sponsorship deals. That usually means he uses humour and his charms to do just that. “G’day.” He’d totally play up to his Aussie upbringing, even after living in America for years. “Yeah, I’m that Nate Broadwater. The one who has to put up with this rabble of asshats.” Yup, he’d be totally referencing his basketballer friends, getting the focus on them instead.
What is the one quality you admire the most in each of your MCs.
Becca: Nate is a natural caretaker. He’s selfless and has such an admirable quiet confidence to him that he’s impossible not to fall in love with. Ryan is driven. Sure, it makes him perhaps make some foolish decisions, but it’s his drive and determination that are at the heart of him trying to do the right thing for his family.
How many half-written stories are on your hard-drive and what do you plan to do with them?
Becca: Urgh. Probably five with a decent word count. I have a superhero romance that I’m so excited to finish off. I’m determined to work on it next year. I also have the follow up to my urban fantasy romance, Thicker Than Water, which I’ve promised readers I will publish next year. There’s a sweet novella returning to my True-Blue series and the first characters introduced, Tanner and Carter. That should be done super soon, and just may end up being a surprise release. I also have Pete’s incomplete story, Outback Boys 3, which I may focus on towards the end of the year. I also have a random PNR, but honestly, I’m not sure if anything will ever come of it. It’s about 30k in, but it’s still not quite right, so it may never hit the stores.
What are you working on next?
Becca: I’m hard at work with No More Secrets, Zone Defense 2, Jayden’s story, which releases early next year. I’m sooooo close to finishing. Immediately after that I’m working on a secret project, which will be released in October next year. I’m soooooo excited and can’t wait to share more details with you.

BLURB
Some things you can’t take back.
If you say those words, get caught glancing at his bulge, or share a heated kiss, it’s game over. The “no take backs” rule strikes, and there’s no way you can backtrack.
That’s the way it’s always been with me and Nate Griffin, my old best friend who thought he could change the rules.
It doesn’t matter that time and distance have pulled us apart. I’ve finally figured myself out and yanked my head out of my backside. Now, if only I can drag myself out of the closet and be the man I want to be for Nate…
But I’m a pro basketball player who has no desire to be a poster boy. Not only that, Nate and I don’t even live in the same country.
Nate, big-hearted guy he is, takes it all in his stride, and I can’t help but wonder if just maybe he’s too good for me. But hell if I can resist him.
It all boils down to: Do I want to take anything back when it comes to Nate Griffin?

About Becca Seymour
Becca Seymour lives and breathes all things book related. Usually with at least three books being read and two WiPs being written at the same time, life is merrily hectic. She tends to do nothing by halves so happily seeks the craziness and busyness life offers.
Living on her small property in Queensland with her human family as well as her animal family of cows, chooks, and dogs, Becca appreciates the beauty of the world around her and is a believer that love truly is love.
I’ve read several of Becca’s books and really enjoyed them. I’m looking forward to reading more of them.
