Welcome to another week of Author Chat with me. Today I get to welcome Anyta Sunday back to chat. Anyta and I have been friends for a long time and I always love having a chance to talk to her. Today I get to ask her a bit about her writing so I can share how wonderful she is with all of you. If you’ve not had a chance to check out her new series, I highly recommend it. It’s almost as amazing as her.
Now, let’s chat with Anyta!
ACwA Guest: Anyta Sunday
How did you come up with the idea of the current story / series?
Anyta: I’ve always loved the Jane Austen novels – they’re just THE classic romances, right? Great storylines that still hold up today. At the same time, I felt these romances would work very well in a contemporary setting – in the end, it was an easy decision to transport them to my home country of New Zealand and reimagine them. Some are quite close to the original, others are turned on their head – great fun!
Now I’m am at book 5, “Elliot, Song Of The Soulmate”, which is a modern gay retelling of “Persuasion”.
If your main characters were being interviewed, how would they introduce themselves?
Anyta: Elliot and Wentworth really are quite the characters. Elliot’s a master of persuasion, a debate champ, and would pull you into a discussion on the possibility of true love right away. He’d probably also tell you what next debate championships he has coming up. Wentworth, on the other hand, would immediately charm you with his Scottish accent. He’d also tell you about the boat he’s living on.
What is the one quality you admire the most in each of your MCs.
Anyta: With Elliot, it’s his quiet, thoughtful patience. As for Wentworth, definitely his romantic enthusiasm.
How many half-written stories are on your hard-drive and what do you plan to do with them?
Anyta: Oh, there are quite a few! Some of them turn into full books, and some just continue to serve as inspiration.
What are you working on next?
Anyta: My next release will be the conclusion of the “Love, Austen” series – book 6 is a modern retelling of “Sense & Sensibility”. After that, I’m revisiting the “Signs of Love” series to give Libra and Sagittarius their HEA!
